Customer’s problem

The workpieces needed to undergo progressive stamping involving multiple transfers along a press line. Regular transfer devices were not appropriate as they could not quickly and accurate adjust to the different dimensions and pitches between different products and their dies.

Koga’s solution

The introduction of articulated robots (10 units) has realized a press line that not only transfers processes within the press, but also supplies work to the presses, between presses, unstacks, and feeds blank workpieces. Staff can easily switch the automated line between various work types in minutes without specialized knowledge, greatly reducing the time required to change the line to a different product type.

Customer’s problem

Work needed to be unstacked from a pallet into a specialized metal bin for the next process in the factory. The work was preformed manually but the volume of work was large and the workpieces were large and heavy.

Koga’s solution

Using a 3D vision camera the robot is able to view the stacked work on it’s pallet, pick up a workpiece and place it into the appropriate bin easily and efficiently. The robot is programmed to handle all the customer’s different workpieces.

Customer’s problem

The company needed to supply two modern numerically controlled lathes with workpieces. Each workpiece weighed 10kg and lifting the product into and out of the lathes for an entire shift was difficult work. The factory ran night shift and finding workers to fill the shifts was difficult.

Koga’s solution

Using a 3D vision camera the multi axis robot is able to locate and pick up the workpieces from a supply conveyor, and align the workpiece correctly into the lathe’s chuck which can then begin processing the work automatically. Once the work has been processed by the lathe the robot can pick up the completed work, pass it through an air blowing cabinet to clean off the chips and cutting fluid, then stack the completed work on pallet. Workers can load the feed conveyor and allow the robot and lathe to work overnight, improving productivity.

Koga’s solution

An articulated robot was installed between the presses to load workpieces an unload the stamped product either into the next press or onto the next process. Safety in the plant has been greatly improved and burden on staff has been reduced.

Customer’s problem

The customer’s number of different types of workpieces had increased and the current transfer process was not able to accommodate the new shapes an sizes of work. As a stopgap, workers had to fill the role of unstacking.

Koga’s solution

We installed an unstacking device that was compatible with a variety of workpieces via a multi-axis robot. The work is now completely automated, and by using an inverted design for the robot we were able to save space as well.

Workers were manually setting workpieces into a press, operating the press, then removing the product.

Koga’s solution

A Multi-axis robot supplies and unloads the press. A supply device has been installed that can handle a wide variety of workpieces without any changes to the machinery.
