Customer’s problem

In the production of a critical safety component staff had to manually inspect and check the quality of the threads for each tapped hole. The process was very time consuming and production cost were high.

Koga’s solution

We created a machine that inspects the threads by robotically threading the each item into an inspection tap. The machine could automatically confirm if the quality of the threads were good and pass them to the next step or return items if they failed the quality check.

Customer’s problem

Due to the complex shape of the items being produced defects were difficult to spot with conventional measuring tools. Defective parts could only be discovered by a skilled craftsman when the item was being assembled.

Koga’s solution

The machine we built uses a precision camera and imaging software to check the quality of the part, then sort parts that have passed the quality control and those that are not useable.

Customer’s problem

Our client needed to ensure their product was air tight. Their current method was to submerge the object and check for bubble escaping. Not only was the process slow and inefficient, the workpieces also had to be dried after inspection.

Koga’s solution

We devised a way to measure the fluctuation of air pressure within the workpiece. This method was not only much faster and accurate, it also negated the step of having to dry off the workpiece and eliminated the possibility of human error when inspecting for bubbles.

Customer’s problem

The product (a wire mesh gasket) had a shape and texture which made it difficult to measure. The measurements needed to be completed one by one, however due to the difficulty measuring the product the customers current machine still made errors.

Koga’s solution

Our machine inspects the outer diameter by using an image sensor and the height of the gasket by using a thickness sensor. A parts feeder keeps products flowing into the machine which is completely automated. The machine sorts out product that doesn't pass the quality check.

Customer’s problem

The customer needed to clean the treads of a product after it was plated. Before asking for our assistance they were using a hand drill which was very inefficient.

Koga’s solution

The machine we introduced chases and checks the product’s threads, ensuring there is no build up of plating. The machine could identify defective products and remove them from the assembly line.

Workers inspected the inside diameter, thickness, and shape of the finished product. However defective items were still very difficult to spot.

Koga’s solution

This machine accurately inspects the thickness and inner diameter of the products separates out any defective products. The parts are checked in multiple spots to ensure any defective products are identified.

Customer’s problem

Workers measured the spacing of holes in the product using a measuring instrument, but there were human errors that were sometimes overlooked, causing problems later in the companies assembly process

Koga’s solution

The machine we developed measures spacing of the holes of the workpiece. By using a sensor that confirms the location of the required holes in the product, it is not possible to get a false positive and introduce defective items into the companies assembly process.

Customer’s problem

Workers manually inspected threaded parts by passing each bolt through a female thread. It was very time-consuming and defective products were sometimes overlooked.

Koga’s solution

A small pallet of 64 bolts can be loaded into the machine where a SCARA robot takes out each bolt and inspects it’s threads. Products are judged by checking the threads with a high definition camera, and by measuring the torque required to thread them into a master thread gauge. The machine is automatically able to remove defective products. The burden on workers has been greatly reduced, and work efficiency has been improved.

Customer’s problem

Workers performed quality checks on specialty bolts to ensure holes drilled into the bold head were in the correct place and drilled completely through. The total length of the bolt was also checked. The checks were completed by hand and took long hours of concentration, human error was accounting for a larger than acceptable margin of error.

Koga’s solution

The machine we created uses two SCARA robots to automate the quality control check process. The depth of the holes are checked using a set of probe and the location is checked by a digital camera. The length is checked by a touch sensor. The machine can identify not only misaligned hole but also holes that were not drilled at all or other abnormalities. Labor need is reduced and quality control is reliable and stable.
